Terms of Service

By accessing or using CoffeeDraft, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the service.

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of CoffeeDraft after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

CoffeeDraft is a free, browser-based screenplay editor that uses the Fountain format. The service allows you to:

• Write and edit screenplays in your browser

• Preview formatted screenplay output

• Export your work as .fountain files

• Import existing .fountain files

The service stores all data locally in your browser's localStorage. We do not provide cloud storage, user accounts, or server-side data storage.

You retain full ownership of all content you create using CoffeeDraft. We claim no intellectual property rights over your screenplays, stories, characters, or any other creative work.

You are solely responsible for your content. You represent that you have the right to use any material you input into CoffeeDraft.

We do not access, read, analyze, or use your content in any way. Your work stays on your device.

You may use CoffeeDraft for:

• Personal screenplay writing

• Commercial screenplay projects

• Educational purposes

• Any other lawful purpose

There are no restrictions on selling, distributing, or licensing screenplays you create with CoffeeDraft. Your work is yours.

You agree not to:

• Attempt to interfere with or disrupt the service

• Reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code

• Use automated systems to access the service in a manner that exceeds reasonable use

• Misrepresent your affiliation with CoffeeDraft

• Use the service for any unlawful purpose

CoffeeDraft stores your work in your browser's localStorage. This means:

• Your data exists only on your device

• Clearing browser data will delete your work

• We cannot recover lost data

• Private/Incognito mode does not persist data

YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR BACKING UP YOUR WORK. We strongly recommend regularly downloading your screenplay as a .fountain file. CoffeeDraft and its creators are not liable for any data loss.

CoffeeDraft is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied.

We do not warrant that:

• The service will be uninterrupted or error-free

• The service will meet your specific requirements

• Any errors will be corrected

You use CoffeeDraft at your own risk.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, CoffeeDraft and its creators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to:

• Loss of data or content

• Loss of profits or revenue

• Loss of business opportunities

• Any damages arising from your use or inability to use the service

This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory under which damages are sought.

We strive to keep CoffeeDraft available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The service may be temporarily unavailable due to:

• Maintenance or updates

• Technical issues

• Circumstances beyond our control

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time without notice.

The CoffeeDraft name, logo, and application code are our property. You may not use our branding without permission.

Fountain is an open format created by John August. CoffeeDraft is an independent implementation and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Fountain creators.
